Hello my name is Jerry LeMar and I am primarily a self-taught painter, working mostly with acrylics on canvas and from time to time experimenting with mixed media. I feel my paintings are a rich example of color, movement, and texture, which I love to explore with my spontaneous application of paint. I try to make it clear as soon as you see my work the tremendous energy I feel that my paintings bring forth. It has always been my desire to leave a place in my paintings so when you view my work you can take your own journey and experience for yourself what you choose. I was born and raised in the United States and developed both my love and training in fine art, though my studies took me in the direction of architecture I always had a deep desire to express my creativity with paint on canvas. Many years later, after having started a family in Montreal I settled with my family in Ottawa. I developed a business through painting murals and Trompe L'oeil privately and commercially. However it was not until I accepted a position with Wallacks Art & Drafting Supplies in Ottawa that my desire to start painting was again rekindled. While living in Ottawa I was in several juried art shows and fortunate enough to win an award for my work, “Full Bloom”. In 2005 I settled in Burlington and set up my studio in Hamilton, with The Imperial Cotton Center for the Arts where I continue to paint whenever possible. Since moving to the Burlington/Hamilton area I have had several art shows including one juried show for which I received an honourable mention award for my painting “Summer Storm”. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it. Have a creative day! |
